Living expenses

Estimated living expenses in Turkey are about € 400 per month, in the Netherlands these are about € 850 per month. All international students are obliged to have health insurance in Turkey (about € 240 per year) and the Netherlands (about € 480 per year).

Visa

Students who are accepted to the Joint Program are responsible to fulfill the visa requirements and to have a visa for Turkey and/or the Netherlands. The partner universities will help the students with their visa applications. In particular, METU will provide non-Turkish students with a letter of invitation that the student can use to apply for a study visa to Turkey. TU Delft will provide non-EU students with a (provisional) proof of registration that is required in order to apply for a study visa to the Netherlands.

TU Delft can arrange a visa for the Netherlands according to the so-called ‘accelerated’ procedure. In accordance with Dutch Ministry of Justice regulations, the visa procedure can be started after TU Delft has received proof that a sufficient amount of money is available to cover the student's study costs. This amount includes the tuition fee and an amount of about € 660 per month deemed to cover the living expenses during the entire stay in Delft (12 months). These living expenses are reimbursed to the student after arrival in the Netherlands (reimbursement to the Dutch bank account which TU Delft will open for the student upon his or her arrival in Delft). The visa application fee (€ 250) as well as the health care insurance premium (€ 480) is deducted from the living expenses before reimbursement.
